Citizenship and Immigration Ministry of Canada has announced the introduction of the following changes in the immigration system. In order to reduce the period of applications’ for citizenship processing to 12 months it will be allocated 69 million dollars to create jobs and hire new employees. With the same purpose years age limit has been reduced from 60 to 55, at which applicants are exempt from the citizenship exam.
In order to attract foreign students to Canada it is planned: to give them the opportunity to work while studying outside academic buildings without obtaining a work permit, to extend the term of a possible work in Canada without the approval of the Ministry up to 2 years after completion of the program (outside Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver), authorize the transfer from one studying program to another without applying for changing staying conditions and allow the possibility of arriving to Canada school level students.
Citizenship and Immigration Ministry of Canada have announced the discussion of changes to immigrant selection system for permanent residence status obtaining. Ministry has proposes to amend the selection criteria for education by means of introducing more differentiate approach to it, depending on whether the application of specialist with higher education degree is considered or application of working profession representative with technical school education degree.
Besides, criteria for assessing knowledge of English and French will also undergo some changes. It is expected the relaxation of language proficiency requirements for potential immigrants with working skills. Age requirements will also be changed. Maximum points will be awarded to future immigrants aged less than 35 years. Employers’ letters about potential immigrants’ employment will be considered more strictly and approved by Human Resource Department Canada. Ministry explains that the introduction of such changes is required to improve the satisfaction of Canadian labor market needs. The exact date of the introduction of the changes is not reported. Approval of amendments and their entry into existing immigration rules may occur without prior notice.
